Design is something that doesn’t happen within a vacuum but is controlled or prescribed by many factors surrounding the process; a designer needs to take care of every detail and be attentive so that the final product is left unspoilt.
Robert Howsare plays around with the random in his environment to create a collection of unique yet superb posters. The medium and means however is what makes his work so different. He uses a tool called The Drawing Apparatus - a simple yet effective instrument, which consists of two wooden arms connected to a disk player. The wooden arms are placed in such a manner that the rotation of the disk player leads the marker to create two different drawing patterns.
The revolution of the records create drawings that serve as markers of temporality*. The drawings also speak to the idea of the editionable print through their ability to be replicated using domestic materials.(Robert Howsare)
The change in speed, rotation and the length of these wooden arms create different shapes and each drawing to be unalike. Robert also has an array of other work which he implements in different manners and styles to create interesting and exquisite art works.
