Alright, alright! For this week’s #bottomrightcorner, we are going digital… As many synths, Charlie Brown teacher wubs and echoes as we can stand, we’d like to throw in a little wonk, a little glitch and a little dub just to keep things fresh… With new releases from the likes of our very on Spoek Mathambo, Yeasayer, Flying Lotus and newcomers We Sink… without a doubt, it’s time! Say it with me: #welikeitlouder!
Spoek Mathambo – The Sexual Harassment Mix
Spoek is at it again with this here mix, and this time, he features the likes of Sun Ra, Jimmy Edgar and Kraftwerk as well as Caiphus Semenya and Oskido for good measure. Local is lekker, so get into this one. Crispy fresh!
Pomrad feat. Nelah – Say What
We’re not entirely sure if Nelah is indeed a 9 year old girl, but if she is, she needs to watch her language… actually, we don’t give a shit either. This track from Pomrad is a great one for the dancefloor. Get involved!
Flying Lotus feat. Erykah Badu – See Thru To U
If you didn’t manage to catch the short film Kahlil Joseph but together so beautifully last week, here’s the first tidbit of of Flying Lotus’ upcoming album entitled ‘Until the Quiet Comes.’ We cannot wait for this one’s official release this coming October… Simply hypnotic!
We Sink – Marooned EP
A pleasant surprise if we ever saw one, this EP will get you up! Too sexy for their shirts, Greek duo We Sink has the right idea when it comes to jams. Housey, bass-y, face-melting garage-step, emulating a little James Blake and a little Pomrad here and there, this new release will be your favourite new toy…
Giraffage – LUV
Let’s get off the dancefloor for a quick breather to bring you this one by Giraffage, called LUV. Beatmaker Charlie Yin from the San Fransisco treats us to a lovely, balmy breaks. Currently on their European tour with XXYYXX, this one will put you right where you need to be. Inhale, exhale…
Maths Time Joy – Lightyears feat. Thai Matic
This EP will blow your mind. The ttle track, Lightyears featuring Thai Matic is the perfect intro, showing off some amazing vocals with tiny little details that come together incredibly beautifully. You’ll thank us later. Remember, you heard it here first!
Yeasayer – Longevity
Fresh off their newest release, entitled Fragrant World, Longevity takes Jason Trammell’s desperate vocals and turns them into something worth witnessing. Unlike anything you’ve heard before, Yeasayer will definitely impress.
Oby Nine – Weightless
In the same vein as We Sink, Jasper Spobeck aka Oby Nine, is a relatively unknown and very young future-dub glitch-hopper from the Netherlands. Having started off in 2006 with hip hop beats, and only 21 years old, he decided that he needed to branch out to dubstep and glitch. This talented young man lays it on thick… Sampling Jimi Hendrix in To Be Weightless, it’s strange to think such wonderful sounds could be made by someone so young! Get the entire EP for free on his bandcamp site; you’ll be so glad you did…
Quadron – Average Fruit (Iamnobodi Remix)
A sexy track if there ever was one, German producer Iamnobodi dropped this uber-bounce-worthy retake on one of Quaron’s gems. Chock-full of attitude, we like it louder, most definitely!
