It’s time for Red Bull Beat Battle 2012, where the best of South African dance crews meet up to battle it off against each other. After a successful 2011 run of the Beat Battle, Red Bull have decided to collaborate again with variety of dance crews from different backgrounds. The finalists are chosen from about a 100 dance crews that audition throughout six cities in South Africa, where from only eight crews are eventually chosen.
Impressed with the talent that South Africa’s dance crews offered well-respected judge, Bboy Gerald Witboo, aka Vokus Nojokes remarked
“I was most impressed by the Pretoria crews. We expected some amazing crews to come out of Jo’burg but Pretoria really stepped up to the plate and made deciding who should go through tough for us. That said, the talent in Bloemfontein surprised me most. In a year or two crews from there will be a force to reckon with.”
Sifting through through the 100 dance crews of different genres the eight were chosen and will battle it off on 26 May 2012 at Bassline in Johannesburg’s Newtown District.
These eight crews are: Artistic Intelligence (Hip Hop), Hlaks (Pantsula), Ninja Turtles (Breaking), Phly Nation (Hip Hop), Real Actions Junior (Pantsula) , Reptilez (Hip Hop), Soulistic Fusion (Sbhujwa) and V.I.N.T.AG.E. (Freestyle). Their varying dance styles, techniques and personalities will make for another thrilling edition of the competition and the crew with the crowd on their side will definitely have the upper hand. They will be judged on their style, creativity and overall crowd reaction. The crew with the best score will be crowned the 2012 Red Bull Beat Battle champions.
