Damien Krisl is no stranger to the fashion scene. After winning numerous awards for his film Amphitrite his latest short film Urban Hippie is expected to make a splash as well. The short film tells the story of a young girl in love shrouded by her own feelings and imagination. Through explosions of colours and flashes into her imagination the viewer is transported deep into her mind. The sweet ethereal voice of Sigur Ros brings together the elements of nature and soft natural lighting captured beautifully by Krisl and co-director Joel Cartier. (Length: 02:38)

This so wonderfully captures the magical appeal of the hippie era. It’s so different from the usual media portrayals, something I hope to also counter in my novel, Hippie Drum. Maybe we’re on the verge of a renaissance.
