Ok people, it’s that time again… With a lovely new selection of tracks picked ripe from the tree of awesome jams, these too will be your new favourite toys. The weather is just right today, so it’s time to get involved! Featuring some great gems from the likes of Fybe:One, Chrome Sparks, Fat Freddy’s Drop and more, we’ll give you a little something for everyone to keep the mood just right, from hip hop to jazz to EDM and beyond…
Chrome Sparks – Marijuana
My lord, this track gets me every time. The layers work so well together, from those creepy male vocals to the harps to that bass that just kicks you in the teeth. And just when you thought you’d had enough, there are all those little nuances that just flow through you. This producer is one to listen out for. Pure auditory bliss, friends.
αtμ – ♥(V) (bonus track)
Don’t ask us how to pronounce the name of the title track to this album, but it is a gorgeous one. 02:16 of music that can only be described as a massage for the soul. Just downtempo enough, Atupele Ndisale from Malawi aka αtμ has slowly gained a huge following of lovers of music of the instrumental variety. Check out the rest of his EP here.
Damu The Fudgemunk – All Green
Beatmaker Damu the Fudgemunk has done it again. We’ll be keeping an eye on this man, who somehow manages to capture the old school, soulful vibe that hip-hop can so easily claim, without sounding dated. You’ll have this track on repeat all day. Don’t say we didn’t warn you…
Afta-1 – Love Suite
How delicious is this track? With some sassy breakdowns, this one will show you just how versatile Afta-1 really is. Engaging, very sexy and very housey.
Janet Jackson – If (Kaytranada Remix)
This is a party banger that everyone seems to want to get into – and down to. Kaytranada takes this classic Janet jam and turns it into something irresistible. Enjoy!
Fybe:One – Eyes Open
This guy is hella talented, and we’re not just talking musically; he designs his own album art and posters too, like the one above for the track ‘Eyes Open’. Good for a chill Friday evening, and the bass will give you goosepimples. Check out his new remix for Tonik here.
Pete Philly & Perquisite feat. Senna - Mellow
These two are impossible to beat. Joining them this time is Senna, with beautiful vocals if we ever heard any. This one’s for the romantics, so don’t be afraid to show some love!
Fat Freddy’s Drop - Big BW
New Zealand’s Fat Freddy’s Drop is one of the most groundbreaking bands to come along to date, mostly because their sound is so versatile. We reviewed them in one of the early one small seed magazines, and if you listen to all of their tracks, you’ll notice a distinct reggae vibe, but that jazzy housetastic side never escapes them.
That’s it for now, leave a comment with any tracks you think we should be listening to – or if you have something of your own, give us the link so we can take a listen! Peace
