Read on to see how you can win an Ultimate X hamper worth R2000!

All the action will be going down at the V&A Waterfront’s Gateway Canal, where you can expect over 6,000 extreme sports-loving spectators to attend the day-long event. The festival – now in its fourth year – opens at 10am and close at 8pm, followed by an extreme concert at Cape Town’s hottest nightclub The Dragon Room on Harrington Street with top local DJ’s and bands playing into the night.
Markus Museler (Old School Productions), owner of the event, had the following to say about Hunter eXtreme’s involvement.
We are very excited that Hunter’s eXtreme has joined the Ultimate X family and will be working alongside us to help grow action sports within SA. Through our involvement in and exposure to related events from across the globe, we are also confident that 2013 will be our most extreme spectator experience to date.
Watch 25 of the country’s best riders as well as international competitors such as Alastair Sayer (FMX), Greg Illingworth (BMX), Louis Taubert (Skateboarding) and Aaron Hadlow (wakeboarding) transform the Gateway Canal into an extreme sporting paradise with death-defying stunts and record breaking attempts, all for a piece of the R100 000 in cash prize and the prestigious title of the Hunter’s eXtreme Ultimate X Gold 2013 South African champion.
Mike Silver, of experiential marketing partner Stretch, said that this year’s festival would be bigger and better than ever before.
‘Ultimate X has grown massively both in terms of numbers attending and on site experience. Through a national media campaign in partnership with Hunters eXtreme, the 2013 edition will see mass awareness created about both the event itself and action sports in SA.’ He continues
We expect to smash previous numbers with new features including multiple international riders competing, staging of the inaugural Ultimate X Gamer competition presented by Mountain Dew and the Inner City Muscle Car Show. (Silver)
Hunter’s eXtreme is all about social stamina and making the good times last longer, which is why partnering with this event suits the brand perfectly (Ben van Der Merwe, Junior Brand Manager of Hunter’s SA).
‘Keeping our consumers refreshed is one thing, but supporting an event that promotes an active lifestyle whilst encouraging people to live life to the fullest is very exciting platform for the brand and we’re delighted to be able to assist in bringing fans the ultimate in extreme sports entertainment.’ (van Der Merwe)
This year, Hunter’s eXtreme Ultimate X Festival will be giving back to the community through its Reach for a Dream initiative. The event aims to fulfil the dreams of four extreme sport-loving children from the Reach for a Dream Foundation by giving them and their families a full VIP experience on the day.

I’ve been to every Ultimate-X event since it started! In 2009 I broke both my Legs snowboarding and still went to watch Ultimate-X in a wheelchair with both my legs in casts! if you’re still not convinced I’m ‘Extreme’ enough check out my wipeout video of all my crashes in different extreme sports! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpYzA-ol8W8

(Someone else’s story)My friend went all the way to Robertson to Skydive, after the long training session she and her friend thought they were good to go. After jumping my friend was so dehydrated she was hallucinating and her friend landed in a tree some where and fell into a road and broke both her legs and had to be hospitalized….I was so amped to do this but after their story I was like NO ways…..Brave ladies….

Most people think that Felix Baumgartner’s leap from the outer edges of space was Extreme, but clearly those people have never been to Ultimate-X. From the wake, skating, bmxing, FMXing to the weather and crowd, it’s an all-round epic event. What would make it more extreme? How about creating a dynamite-fueled wave pool in the canal and adding surfing to the line-up, like these guys: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JR_naKxLEPc

I found myself in this very uncomfortable position where i awoke to this thunderous sound outside my tent. There on the river sat this magnificent 2-man Speedboat. My friends stood beside it egging me on. It was my 21st Bday weekend camp…so anything goes. Me not liking anything outside my comfort zone. I had to swallow my pride and went of for the most memorable experience ever. Who knows…Ultimate X might top that one.

Most extreme thing I will do this year is win this prize and go to the Ultimate X for the first time!!! It would be so cool to check all the action sports athletes in real life. The closest I get to something like that is watching my buddies jump their FMX bikes at a home made ramp in Plett.

A few years back when there was a ton of snow on my farm in Oregon, I had this idea to race a snowmobile in the paddock. In the heat of the competition, I forget which hand controlled the brake and accelerated instead right through a barbwire fence… needless to say, I lost that race but gained a great scar thats a perfect conversation starter at parties

I was on my to work in my Beetle picking up speed to ascend quite a steep hill only to come to the horrible realization on the way down that my breaks have failed. My friend in the passenger seat started freaking out and braced herself for the inevitable accident. I knew the only way stay alive was avoid all possible accident and as a result destroyed a price rose garden, almost ran over a few commuters and did a few off roads move over sidewalks and curbs. By the time road finally leveled out and we started to slow, completely freaked out that we managed not to crash, we just kept on driving in utter silence to the mall.

i was skating home after work and i met an art director who was finishing up a dinner with these somalian pirates. then they invited me to an after party. so we stole 3 bottles of wine and went to this mansion on the top of signal hill, where we discussed life, bob marley, politics, music, the curent state of the world and so much more… then they gave me 200rand to get a cab home. it was a really nice evening.
will make my week if i win something as exciting as tickets to the ultimate X. plus i have friends i know i can share the booze with ! wahoo!

You know what’s extreme? My life, that’s what. I am a 28year old single mom with two 5 year olds. I work a full time job at a production company and still make it home to cook dinner, bath and read to them before bed. Then I work while they sleep so we can have a better life. That, my friend, is extreme. Please give me those tickets so I can take them both to Ultimate X to watch something that is MORE extreme than our lives.
Bring it.
